Stephanie is the owner of Georgie Lou's Retro Candy and the founder and president of Destination Carlisle. She opened her candy and pop culture store in 2009 in downtown Carlisle, where she is known for her elaborate store windows and downtown-wide kids events that she has run for over a decade.
Stephanie was born in Carlisle, has lived here for most of her life, and can trace her Carlisle family roots as far back as the 1830s. She holds a BA in English and an MA in American Studies and has worked as a writer, teacher, curator, and scholar. She is the mother of three boys, who along with her husband, help at Georgie Lou's and often get volunteered to help with our efforts in downtown.
Tanis works professionally in marketing and has a background in writing. He has spent much of his adult life building community in Carlisle, and he devotes most of his spare time to running two non-profits, Amani Carlisle and Serve the City Carlisle. He brings his extensive non-profit experience to us as our vice president.
Although he didn't move to Carlisle until elementary school, Tanis seems to know everyone in town, and whenever we are in need of a connection, he seems to have one for us. In fact, his offer of help in making a business connection to Stephanie resulted in a meeting that laid the early groundwork for our organization. He loves pop culture and lives in Carlisle with his cat.
Jennifer is the founder and co-owner of TimeWalker Tours, a historical walking tour company in downtown Carlisle that started in 2018. She loves the history of Carlisle and wants everyone else to as well. She is a vital part of our idea team here at Destination Carlisle and serves as our secretary.
While Jennifer has lived in Carlisle for 12 years, she has historical roots here, as her fifth great-grandfather was one of Dickinson College's first professors. She is also an award-winning local photographer and independent historical scholar, often researching our town's rich past. She is the mother of two children, and they and her husband also help with our mission.
Tom is the owner of Carlisle Financial Group in downtown Carlisle and helps his clients invest wisely and increase their financial literacy. He is an Air Force veteran and former American Legion Post commander. He serves as our treasurer.
Although Tom grew up in Pelham, New York, his family is originally from Michigan and historically from York, PA. He holds a BA in business and MA in Finance and has worked for a large financial services company before opening his own practice. He believes strongly in civic responsibility and community service He likes to travel and spend time with his family.
Erin is the Marketing Director at Carlisle Financial Group in downtown Carlisle. Among many things, she is an Air Force veteran and has a background in event planning. She serves on our Advisory Council.
While she was born in Philadelphia, Erin grew up in Carlisle, where her family lived as early as the 1760s. Her mother was the first professional dancer to come out of what would become the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet. Erin and her family love living in Carlisle and exploring all it has to offer. She also loves to garden, read, and cook--ask her about her award-winning cookie recipe.
Duane is the executive chef at Cafe Bruges in downtown Carlisle and serves on our Advisory Council. He believes strongly in building community, including that between local farmers, restaurants, and local consumers.
Duane grew up in Carlisle. He is a metal enthusiast and devoted player of Dungeons & Dragons, often serving as dungeon master at local gatherings. He and his wife have twin daughters who are more well-known among downtown businesess than they are, and the girls often lend helping hands to our organization along with their parents.
Leslie is the front-of-house manager at Cafe Bruges in downtown Carlisle and serves on our Advisory Council.
